Life in the present day would be impossible without the Internet which we rely on for almost every aspect of our lives ranging from work, play and study to banking, shopping and transportation. Fair to say, the modern way of life would be very different had the Internet not been invented and for this we have to thank the pioneers of the concept of information theory such as Harry Nyquist and Ralph Hartley back in the 1920s and American Mathematician Claude Shannon who further developed the theory in the 1940s. In essence, information theory involves the scientific study of the “quantification, storage, and communication of digital information to develop mathematical treatment of the concepts, parameters and rules governing the transmission of messages through communication systems” which has proved to be pivotal in the development of the Internet.

In the 1960s, government researchers had applied the underlying concepts of information theory to share information with one another but the birth date of the Internet is generally considered to be 1 January 1983 as this was the day when computers on different networks were able to communicate with each other for the very first time using the Transfer Control Protocol/Internetwork Protocol (TCP/IP) which officially commenced operations on 1 January 1983. With the advent of inter-network connectivity, the Internet was born.

Web 3.0: The Culmination of Internet Evolution

In the late 1980s, Web 1.0 aka the Static Web came about as the first manifestation of the development of the Internet for mainstream use. In many ways, Web 1.0 was much like a rudimental repository of information serving as a database of information with minimal user interaction. In the early days of Web 1.0, users of the Internet had to tediously trawl through voluminous amounts of information to find the information which they are seeking for though this changed with the advent of web indexing platforms such as Netscape and Google in the late 1990s. Since then web technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, CSS3 had continued to evolve until sometime in the mid-2000s when the dawn of Web 2.0 aka the Social Web which heralded the element of user interactivity through social media platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.

As the wheels of technological revolution continue spinning onwards with its evolutionary cycles, we are edging closer to the threshold of yet another paradigmatic shift this time in the form of Web 3.0 aka the Semantic Web which would be bringing about improved levels of accessibility and connectivity that in turn paves the way for the deployment of the Internet with greater ubiquity, traversing across even more aspects of the daily lives of modern day humans. Through the use of the Internet to connect the automated interface of various devices between each other as well as with the users themselves through wearable devices, Web 3.0 is set to take the interactions between devices and devices, between devices and people as well as between people and people to the next level in terms of both the intelligence level and utility value of the interactions.

Tokocrypto: The Digital Locksmith for Web 3.0

If Web 3.0 is the Internet of the future, blockchain with its decentralized and autonomous features as well as user generated content and innovation centric approaches would be the technology which serves as the bridge to the future. Here are 3 reasons why TKO as the native utility token of Tokoverse would be the key to unlocking Web 3.0:-

Web 3.0 Lock #1 — Decentralization of Governance Control

One of the primary ideals behind Web 3.0 is the decentralization of control whereby in line with the spirit of democracy, governance of Internet networks is to shift to the users of the Internet themselves. In other words, Web 3.0 envisages that control over the operations of the Internet should be distributed among the masses as opposed to being centralized in the hands of a select few. Blockchain with its decentralized and autonomous features would certainly come in handy when it comes to the development of Web 3.0.

TKO Key#1 — TKO DAO

In line with Web 3.0 decentralization ideals, Tokocrypto’s development blueprint for TKO entails the embodiment of the concept of decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) through TKO DAO which would enable members of the community to have a say when it comes to charting the development path of the token. In essence, TKO DAO would allow members of the Toko community to submit proposals in relation to TKO’s roadmap whereby these proposals would then be voted upon by TKO holders with the voting weightage being allotted based on the number of TKOs held by each voter. In this manner, TKO DAO would effectively be killing two birds with one stone by laying down the path to the realization of Web 3.0 while empowering members of the Toko community who have supported TKO all the way.

Web 3.0 Lock#2 — Catalyzing the Creator Economy

One of the main aims of Web 3.0 is to support the creator economy by encouraging the generation of user content through the addressing of issues pertaining to the ownership and transferability of digital content. In other words, Web 3.0 strives to create a creator-friendly environment on the Internet whereby owners of digital content can be easily verified and ownership rights to such content can be easily transferred The asset tokenization feature of blockchain which enables digital content to be tokenized in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) renders the technology to have a key role to play in supporting Web 3.0’s agenda of supporting the growth of the creator economy.

TKO Key#2 — Tokocrypto Metaverse

In tandem with the impending arrival of the Web 3.0-based creator economy, Tokocrypo will be launching its own Metaverse which would incorporate a host initiatives driven by partnerships involving the deployment of the play-to earn (P2E) mechanism including allowing users of Tokoverse to stake over 10,000 pieces of NFTs through the process of creation, breeding and play in the Metaverse. With NFTs being the intermediary instrument which serves as the connectivity link that transforms the video games universe into a hybrid crossover dimension that has financial significance in the real world, TokoMall will have a central role to play in our upcoming Tokocrypto Metaverse which is set to be a gamechanger for GameFi’s creator economy in Web 3.0.

Web 3.0 Lock#3 — Leveraging Innovation for Transformation

One of the main visions behind Web 3.0 is to harness the power of innovation to transform the cultural and societal or perhaps even the philosophical belief systems of the Internet. The rise of the digital age has provided a global talent pool of programmers and developers who are primed to generate value for the digital economy through the embracing of newfound concepts and the implementation of breakthrough ideas. As the technology which has been touted to drive humanity towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), blockchain stands as the prime candidate which holds the promise for the global digital talent pool to bring to life the concept of Web 3.0 particularly in light of blockchain’s enhanced scalability through the use of layer-1 solutions.

TKO Key#3 — TokoLaunchpad and T-Launchpad

In support of the use of blockchain for Web 3.0 innovation, Tokocrypto’s Toko Launchpad is a venture building program whose goal is to identify and grow potential blockchain startups into sustainable businesses in the industry. With regard to the incubator component of TokoLaunchpad, it serves as a support system for Indonesian businesses seeking to launch their projects into the world of blockchain through the provision of technological assistance and capacity building measures.

In relation to Toko Launchpad’s accelerator component, we have collaborated with venture capital partners with the aim of providing networking access to fundraising opportunities for Indonesian blockchain startups to help accelerate the growth and development of these startups with the goal of bringing them to the world stage. As for T-Launchpad, it is a Initial DEX Offering (IDO) platform which is set to capitalize on the rising appetite for all things blockchain in Indonesia by serving as a platform to kick-start new blockchain projects thereby serving as the prime gateway for Indonesians to gain access to promising and innovative blockchain projects in line with the coming to the fore of Web 3.0.

Web 2.0 has propelled humanity’s digital transformation by leaps and bounds but at the same time its centralized framework has brought about some aspects which web users can do without such as dark patterns. The prevalence of the use of dark patterns by Web 2.0 platforms is aptly evidenced by the fines imposed by France’s data protection agency in January 2021 on Google and Facebook amounting to USD170 million and USD68 million respectively as punishment for the use of dark patterns by the two social media giants. Perhaps the time is ripe for the rise of the decentralized Internet and TKO would be facilitating this by serving as the key to unlocking Web 3.0.
